THY at May River High School Educate Peers During Prom Promise

Students at May River High School attended Prom Promise, an event in which teens are educated and advised on the dangers and risks of drunk, drugged, and distracted driving.  Multiple May River High School Teens for Healthy Youth members facilitated a walking course in which students volunteered to wear drunk goggles to simulate being under the influence of alcohol.  As students completed the walking course, they received Lutzie 43 lanyards and the Teens for Healthy Youth Facts Cards of Impaired and Distracted Driving.  Over 75 students attending prom participated in the drunk-goggle walking course and received the Lutzie lanyards and the THY Impaired and Distracted Driving Fact Card.  Prom Promise is an activity in LCAHY’s 12 Month Action Plan implemented to prevent and reduce youth access to alcohol, especially during high-risk teen celebrations such as prom. MRHS THY plans to assist in Prom Promise annually.
