Teens for Healthy Youth Support CAPA’s Angel Tree Project

Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) supported the 2024 Children’s Abuse Prevention Agency (CAPA) Angel Tree Project. The purpose of the CAPA Angel Tree Project is to provide gifts to youth in the local community who have experienced abuse and are in need during the holiday season. THY from Bluffton High School, May River High School, Cross Schools, Hilton Head Island High School, and Hilton Head Christian Academy, raised funds to purchase gifts based on the wish lists of anonymous youth receiving CAPA services. The owner of Piggly Wiggly and CIA Business Sector Representative for LCAHY donated $500 to support this initiative. THY acknowledges that youth experiencing trauma from abuse can lead to substance use, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. THY hopes that providing holiday gifts to these individuals, who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), will allow them to experience a positive childhood experience (PCEs) of caring and giving. In Bluffton School Student News, THY was featured for its efforts to help those in need. Watch the video here. THY is dedicated to fostering positive teen health in their communities through community service, peer-to-peer education, leadership, service, and advocacy.

THY stuffed holiday stockings with deodorant, lotion, chap stick, and candy. THY Bluffton also collected gifts for anonymous students at their school who need support during the holiday season.
