Teens for Healthy Youth (THY) educated their peers about healthy ways to manage stress during December by sharing their THY Coping With Exam Stress Fact Card and making Instagram postings. THY acknowledges that December can be stressful for teens who take midterm and final exams which may put them at risk for substance use, depression, and anxiety. THY also gave teachers and staff a fact card that lists common stressors for educators and positive tips for managing stress. THY is aware that stress can lead to unhealthy behaviors and hope that sharing helpful and healthy ways to manage stress will keep their peers, school educators, and staff healthy during the stressful holiday season and exam time. Providing information on managing stress in healthy ways is an activity in LCAHY’s 12-month action plan under Strategy One, Providing Information, of the Seven Strategies of Change.
Bluffton High teachers received a holiday baked good and THY Educator Tip Fact Card for Managing Stress before finals week from THY members.
